This job won’t be for everyone. We are a small conservation organization that received it’s charitable status early in 2024. The right person for this job will be driven and willing to take risks, knowing that part of the early requirements of this position will be to help us secure funding to continue to grow. This means starting at three days per week on a prorated contract and then hopefully quickly transitioning into longer work weeks. It may even mean volunteering extra hours initially to get us to where we need to be.
Do you think you’re the right person to step in and help us become further established in the conservation community?
Thankfully, you won’t be starting from scratch. We have a strong track record as a small but mighty non-profit dating back to 2019 and are led by our co-founder, conservation advocate and film producer Kim Odland, and our current Chair and co-founder, award-winning conservationist and photographer John E. Marriott. We have a culture, we have amazing projects, we have great media reach, and we even have a small base of committed financial support – what we need next is you to help us take things to the next stage.
We believe this is a truly unique opportunity for a passionate conservation advocate to take the next step in their career leading EXPOSED to the next level.
The executive director will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of EXPOSED's operations, including project development, fundraising, financial management, and strategic planning, ensuring the organization effectively fulfills its charitable mission and achieves its goals, while reporting directly to the Board of Directors.
Key duties will include project and campaign development, cultivating donor relationships, grant writing, partnership building, managing budgets, working with and managing part-time contractors (for web, communications, graphic design, etc), and ensuring compliance with our Canada Revenue Agency charitable status..
Position type:
Part-time, 3 days/week, permanent (funding dependent)
Location:
Remote, work from home. You must have a suitable workspace that offers a degree of privacy for meetings. Our ideal candidate will be located in Alberta, British Columbia or the Yukon, with a preference for Alberta where many of our projects are based.
Work hours:
Daily work hours are flexible. But the right person should expect to be available on short notice for emerging events, if, for instance, the government announces on a Friday afternoon the reinstatement of a grizzly bear hunt. Initial paid work will be 24 hours per week.
Compensation:
$80,000 annually as a contractor, prorated to 24 hours per week initially (based on a 35-hour work week).
Posting date:
February 13, 2025
Closing deadline for applications:
We encourage interested applicants to apply early and by no later than February 23, 2025.

As soon as possible. We hope to have someone in place by March 31, 2025 at the latest.
